Visible from almost anywhere in town the Star is a Roanoke symbol that brings back fond memories for many who have passed thru. Locals often recall visiting the star with a special date. The Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding the Roanoke, Virginia area are breathtaking. Smith Mountain Lake which covers parts of Franklin and Bedford Counties is a water playground with 500 miles of shoreline. Artists and Musicians are attracted to the beauty of the area, and are plentiful. Crime is low, Schools are good and the livin' is easy. Since I sell real estate in Roanoke and the surrounding areas I get to experience first hand some of the unique features that make this area so desirable.
