The Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding the Roanoke, Virginia area are breathtaking. Smith Mountain Lake which covers parts of Franklin and Bedford Counties is a water playground with 500 miles of shoreline. Artists and Musicians are attracted to the beauty of the area, and are plentiful. Crime is low, Schools are good and the livin' is easy. Since I sell real estate in Roanoke and the surrounding areas I get to experience first hand some of the unique features that make this area so desirable.

Turks Cap Lily... Sultan of the Blue Ridge
The beautiful Turks Cap Lily is growing on a wooded path in Franklin County, VA. This lily is a native wildflower and in the sun can grow to over 6 ft tall. The Blue Ridge Mountains are home to many wildflowers. Each different elevation creates a different micro-environment encouraging diversity in plant and animal life.
